Cookie Policy

Last updated: 2026-09-11

A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store on your device. Cookies let us recognise you across pages, remember your session and keep the experience useful without forcing you to sign in on every page load.

Cookie categories we use

We classify cookies in three categories:

  • Essential — required to operate the Service (authentication, security). Cannot be disabled because the Service won't work without them.
  • Functional — improve the user experience (remembered filters, recent searches). Can be cleared from your browser settings without losing access.
  • Analytics — anonymised statistics about which pages are visited, via Google Analytics 4. Off by default. These load only after you accept them in the cookie banner, and you can withdraw that at any time.

We do not set advertising cookies, retargeting pixels or cross-site tracking cookies, and we do not use analytics to build a profile of you as an individual. IP anonymisation is enabled and Google Consent Mode is set to deny advertising and personalisation storage outright.

Cookies we set

Name Purpose Duration Category
kb_access Holds your Basefyio access token after sign-in so you stay authenticated across pages. 1 hour (auto-refreshed in the background) Essential
kb_refresh Refresh token used to obtain new access tokens without re-prompting for password. Enables the 60-day "stay signed in" behaviour. 60 days Essential
recent_searches Stores your last few schedule searches so the home page can show "Recent searches" quick-links. No personal data — just origin/destination pairs. Until you clear browser storage Functional
fs-cookie-consent Records whether you accepted or rejected analytics cookies, so we stop asking. Set by us, never sent to a third party. This one is stored even if you reject — it is what remembers the rejection. Until you clear browser storage Essential
_ga Google Analytics 4 — distinguishes one browser from another so page counts are not double-counted. Only set if you accept analytics cookies. 2 years Analytics
_ga_<container-id> Google Analytics 4 — keeps session state for the current visit. Only set if you accept analytics cookies. 2 years Analytics

Third-party cookies

Embedded providers may set their own cookies in your browser when you interact with their features inside FreightScanner. These are governed by the respective provider's policy, not ours:

How to control cookies

Analytics cookies: use the button above, or Cookie settings in the footer of any page, to accept or reject them. Your choice is stored on your device and applied immediately — rejecting stops the Google Analytics tag from loading at all.

You can also clear or block cookies from your browser settings. Note that blocking Essential cookies will sign you out and prevent you from signing back in.

  • Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data
  • Safari: Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data
  • Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
  • Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Cookies and site data
